Our Story

Founded in 2021, Safe Haven Ministries International was incorporated to help the women in the northern part of Cyprus who are unable to find work. After serving in the area as a teacher and Bible study leader for a year and a half, Sonja, the president of the Safe Haven Ministries, felt the need to help women who were struggling to get by. By the help of Faith Community Church, her church back in California, and many other individuals, we are now able to provide income for women in crisis from many different countries, and teach skills that they can use to provide income for themselves in the future. 

1 John 3:16-18 was the conviction that started the work:

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
